Government House Conservation Project

Government House has been described as the most significant heritage building in New Zealand. The conservation project, aimed to revitalise the building to enable its continued use by the government for functions and celebrations.

Because the building was constructed almost entirely of timber, the issues surrounding fire engineering were significant. Holmes Fire was tasked with documenting updated fire protection systems that would not only meet the life safety requirements of the Code but also provide a high level of protection to the building and its contents that included an extensive art collection.
