We are expanding our technical teams in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Fire engineering roles are available for different levels of experience, including graduates. 

The Role will include but not be limited to Building Code of Australia assessments, preparation of fee proposals and associated project management, delivery of fire engineering performance-based design solutions, for new and existing buildings, utilising:

  • Qualitative and quantitative egress assessments;
  • Qualitative and quantitative fire and smoke spread assessments;
  • Radiant heat calculations; and
  • Smoke modelling;
  • Performing computer modelling of fire and smoke using Fire Dynamics Simulator (NIST);
  • Performing computer modelling of occupant emergency evacuation using spreadsheet calculations, Simulex, Evacnet, Pathfinder, and similar evacuation models;

Project Management duties will include attending site inspections and meetings with design teams and approval authorities, Coordinating with project stakeholders in relation to fire safety aspects of projects. Organised project information, task and account management is expected from the desired candidate.

Business development activities and client relationship management with prospective clients.

Are you a Business Development Executive ready for our new challenge in our Brisbane team?

The focus of the Business Development Executive role will be to research and develop marketing and project opportunities by identifying opportunities and building relationships within both new and existing markets. You will also work as part of tender/fee proposal teams, seeking not only new project opportunities where we can offer value but also preparing submissions specific to the client/project brief. You’ll also be expected to work collaboratively alongside our other teams located in Sydney and Melbourne.  You’ll have the benefit of an experienced Marketing Coordinator in your team and will be expected to provide support and mentoring in that regard.

The role will include but not be limited to:

  • Someone with the ability to contribute to strategic initiatives, whilst not being averse to overseeing day to day operational matters.
  • Will ideally have local (Brisbane) knowledge of market and industry activities along with existing industry relationships
  • Experience in a similar role within a professional services or construction background is preferred
  • Good writing/communication skills
  • Experience in Adobe Suite, WordPress is an advantage
  • Experience working across geographical locations is also an advantage

Provide senior technical support to a team of engineers and technical subject matter experts focusing on fire protection and life safety.  Prepare building and fire code consulting and analysis reports, and engineering analyses specific to fire protection, life safety, and risk.

Contribute to the technical development of the office, business development, marketing initiatives, project scoping and management, and general engineering of deliverables. Mentor and train the professional staff of engineers, and engage in peer review of technical documents prepared by other companies and advancement of the profession through local body affiliations.

The role will include responsibilities related to Strategic Planning, Leadership, Customer and Market Focus, Program Management as well as Business and Financial Results.

We are looking to expand our team in the South Island.  If you are interested in an exciting fire engineering role based in beautiful Queenstown.

You’ll be degree qualified preferably holding a Master of Engineering – Fire Engineering, but we are open to other engineering qualification disciplines including structural, civil and mechanical (ideally recognised under the Washington Accord.)

You’ll be required to undertake performance and prescriptive based fire engineering design covering all aspects of fire safety which includes fire and smoke modelling, egress analysis, suppression systems, alarm and detection systems, external fire spread and fire safety management. You will also be involved in the construction monitoring of the fire engineering designs we develop. Holmes Fire has an overarching philosophy of encouraging performance-based solutions, ensuring that clients’ expectations are not only met, but exceeded.
